New 360 Power Brick plug

This isn't really anything really groundbreaking, but I found a post on the Gamefaqs message boards stating that new xbox 360 power brick plugs no longer have the buttons on the side that you have to squeeze to remove from the console. Two other members have confirmed the existence of the new plug, with one stating his console was manufactured in June 2007, and both stated they purchased Elite consoles.

I'm guessing this is merely for cosmetic reasons, and to make it easier to unplug the plug from a 360.

I recently purchased an elite and the actual plug that goes into the wall does not have the third ground prong either... I found that very interesting. Most computers these days are grounded, except for some laptops...

I just got an ELITE and it doesn't have the buttons on the side either. So they actually started that with ELITE and now its being carried on.

OMG i need help.. my Ac adaptor broke (the Brick) for my elite and i dont want to send it to microsoft becuase it will probably take forever for them to send it back.... so i was looking online for a new one and they dont have any for he elite there all jus the original bricks, so i was wondering if anyone knew if the original brick would work for the elite

Not sure if the original will work or not. I am kinda in the same situation, where my original 360 fried and I went out and bought the Elite. What I noticed was not only as everyone mentions above, but in fact THE MAIN DIGFFERENCE is that the plug that goes in to the XBOX is totally different. The Pin-outs are the same, but the plastic that alligns the plug has changed. Thus I cannot use the Intercooler at all unless I use the original brick.

Has anyone else noticed this? I was thinking about contacting Microsoft to confirm why - and I cant find any other posts.

I know that this model also included a detachable Hard Disk Drive (initially 20 GB, while later models had 60 GB) to store downloaded content, provide compatibility with original Xbox games, and store game data
